Danielson's Dancers

Bill, my guess is that you recall the name correctly -- but were mixed up about
the type. (NOT a complaint, because I haven't memorized the checklists either!)

TEMPLE DANCER is actually a quantum-system 1/2-bred, with an SDB maternal line.
It's most likely a chromosome-set system 1/4-bred, with one chance in thousands
that it could be a chromosome-set 1/2-bred -- but I haven't seen any evidence to
that effect. TWILIGHT DANCER, however, is a 3/4-bred Danielson introduced the
same year (1971). You may well have started out with both of them, but only
TEMPLE DANCER survived.

Note to Lurkers:
Bill has brought up a very important point. Few arilbreds of that era tolerated
being left undug and the most reliable for naturalized planting were indeed the
arilbredmedians like TEMPLE DANCER. Arilbredmedians have come to dominate the
competition for the Wm. Mohr award. and I suspect that their superior
gardenability in the east has a lot to do with that. Fred Gadd's introductions
are the best-known, but there are many others.

The proverbial "bottom line": if medians do well for you and arilbreds sound
interesting, start with arilbredmedians.
