Versicolor germination

I just received Norman Deno's book on seed germination. He says I. Versicolor
need light to germinate.
I have approx. 40 pint containers with Versicolor seeds from the SIGNA seed
exchange buried about 3/16 of an inch. This weekend I'm planning on re-doing
these containers with the seeds on the surface. Any comments?
