Might I suggest that anyone fortunate enough to grow both diploid MTBs and I.
korolkowii try crossing them? Years ago, I had visions of MTB-class
regeliabreds. But my MTBs didn't survive the period of neglect dictated by my
mother's surgeries & chemotherapy and when I rebuilt my collection concentrated
on arilbreds. Diploid MTB + I. korolkowii "should" add a new color pattern to
the existing MTB form, although it would probably be at the expense of bud
count.
BTW, that wasn't a typo. The "+" instead of "X" is old-time shorthand used to
denote pairing without signifying the direction of the cross.
