The IP address for tonight's chat is:
207.147.1.59
Port must be 6667
Remember you can always find it at :
http://www.vengers.com/page.htm
So far the only option that I have been able to develop for AOL account
users is for you to have installed some browser (other than the AOL one)
that is Java complient (like Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer -
preferably the former) use it to log on to your AOL account. Then surf
to Rod's webpage (http://www.vengers.com/page.htm) and click on the Jave
client link (it is actually the word "this") in the paragraph towards
the bottom. This will work. It will be slooooow, and Mac users have to
go an extra step of "Float" in the menu bar before it will allow you to
login, but none the less, will allow you to chat with the rest of us. It
takes at least 5 minutes to startup properly on my system, so be
patient.
If you are NOT an AOL user, by far the best solution is one of the
standard IRC clients. For this type of client remember you DO NOT use
the Undernet. Rod's server is like a "private undernet" except it has a
number instead of a name. Rod's server is a totally separate chat
server. Think of it as "Rodnet" except you use the daily IP number
(listed above for 3/6/97) to get to it instead of a name. You put his IP
number in the same place in your software that you would put
us.undernet.org if you were logging onto that system.
Once you are there just type:
/join #iris-l
all lower case. Otherwise if you type something else, you end up opening
a new channel with the name you typed in and will be all alone :>(
Once again, If you need help tonight, I will monitor my email and try to
respond. Or you can call me at 510-795-9723.
Look forward to chatting with you.
