Iris Photos(Digital)

I agree with all that John Jones sez - Dots Per Inch is most important...

Yes, Snappy is about 72dpi - I guess I had the application in mind when I said
the Video-Snappy aproach was impressive.. I guess I should have said very
*cost effective*.. The Iris catalog was *more* than adequate to describe the
shape and color of the irises. which certainly is much more than words could
say...

However, bytes are important to me also because I use Presentation Programs for
iris projects. I must be capable of using 1.44 Kbyte disks with data and
graphics.. Printing is in second place.. I usually can't wait to have a
*large* image download each time I need it....

KONICA furnishes digitized images on disk approx. 600 X 400 256 colors which
is just fine for what I used them for.... My Web page accepts them readily...
(?)
We would all be lost without compression programs.. Right !

I also find that, although the image is only something like 745 X 595, - my
printer (and possibly most of our list members) only prints as good as 300
dpi... 'tho they do look good as screen wallpaper or screen saver...

I've decided (yesterday) NOT to go the digitial camera route.. (this may
change in time) I will continue to use the KONICA service. They still
supply, on disk, a 24 exposure roll of film - ( digitized) for only $4.00 ( in
addition to the developing and normal prints). And it can usually be
processed through your local super market or drug store.

BUT - Meanwhile - I will still be lookng around for a good Flat-bed scanner
