What a great idea. I will do that - our local library has a very
heavy usage in the periodical section and could use 'The
World of Irises' in the gardening section where I went to locate a
book on irises when I joined the AIS and found there weren't any.
Not creative enough to make the connection and actually *buy* one
for the library. Instead I bought books for myself only. :-(
Another idea closely akin to Clarence's post is to ask local nurseries
if they would place AIS membership info with yours or another local
person's name & phone #. In my rural area, there are a good many
small, family run gardens and they are sorely lacking in irises and
information. To show you how bad it is here, they consider me the
local iris expert just because I grow irises and know their
correct names and classes.
And only you folks know how laughable that is. :-)
Liking being the fraudulent iris expert,
Ellen
