Hello!
I joined your merry mailing list in order to perhaps pick up some
useful Iris wisdom.
My husband and I landed here in the Oklahoma City are about three
years ago after a four year tour in Germany. This lovely home we
purchased came with several well-established Irises. I don't know
the names of any of them for sure, but there was a tag in one clump
proclaiming "Dover Beach". It could be the name of this particular
Iris, as the lower petals are pale lavendar, and the tops of the
blooms are nearly white, rising like the white cliffs of Dover over
the lavendar below.
The others are all solid colors, one a deep wine color, one mustardy
yellow, one the "traditional" purple iris color, and one pale pink.
They have come back year after year, and I even divided the "Dover
Beach" and now have several clumps of it around the front yard. I
haven't so far done any special care or feeding for these lovely
plants, and I am hoping to learn more about them by "listening" to
what goes on in the list.
So far, all the foliage for this year looks healthy, and I look
forward to another colorful Spring!
Sincerely,
Carolyn Armistead
