Hi everyone!
while looking through Gardening through the Ages by Penelope Hobhouse I saw
a drawing of three irises by Daniel Rabel from his Theatrum Florae in 1624.
The central iris is identified as I. susiana and flanking it are 2 labeled
I. bisantina. The one on the right is labeled "Iris bisantina angustifolia
peramoena flore albo" and the left one is "Iris bisantina angustifolia
peramena flore violacco multiplici" and looks like it may be a double or a
drawing of two flowers blooming at the same time (only one stalk is shown).
The iris on the right looks a bit like a Siberian.
Can anyone tell me more about these plants?
