Dear Walter: The term wide cross is perhaps not very scientific, and changes
with the "environment". Monty's wide crosses would have meaning only to a
mostly TB or at least Bearded specialist. A truly wide cross would be one
that produces a PALTEC, or a WM MOHR, - an intra-species cross.
I have to smile when I read some dairy cattle pedigrees as being "outcross",
for if one looks no farther than the grandparents, there is a lot of close
