Where do Chipmunks fit in as far as iris damage. Are they like moles and
simply disturb the soil or do they do direct damage to rhizomes. I have
holes everywhere. They like to collect and store the bird seed they can
steal from the feeders that are designed to foil squirrels but talented
Chipmunks have learned how to straddle the perch so as to not tip the door
closed on the seed compartments. Very clever. We used to have garter snakes
and didn't have these problems but the snakes must have moved on. Our area
of Michigan also has Rattlesnakes but the only time we saw one was after a
fair amount of rain shortly after some workmen did some tree removal in the
woods and probably disturbed nature.
