DEAR DOROTHY: I find I now have THREE stalks on MATRIX. I looked very
carefully, and am sure no others have started up, but this variety surely
must have a lot of resistance to freezing! It was bred by Earl Hall of
near-Dayton, Ohio., from two of my rebloomers. I covered the stalks last
night because of a predicted frost that did not actually hit, but these
stalks had no mulch or protection at all until then. One quite normal bloom
opened last Monday, lasting until our rain on Friday. Blooms about to open on
the secodn stalk. Only one dwarf bloom so far. Lloyd Z in Durham NC
