Hi Arnold... don't know if this is of interest to the entire robin, but I'll
just post it and duck.
Our booth was at a Flower and Garden show in a convention center...
specifically, the Dome Arena in Rochester, NY. We had a space about 20' wide
with two tables and curtains in the back. We were sharing the space with the
Daylily and Hosta Society (due to a mix-up by the organizers), but it worked
out just fine. We had an automatic slide projector with iris/daylily and
hosta slides going continuously... we had some display material and we had
our handouts. Due to the large volume of folks that we knew would come
through.. and the cost of copying - we compressed the most vital information
onto two sheets... one has a narrative on basic iris culture on the front,
with dividing information on the back. The other has a source list on the
front and AIS application and show information on the back. We handed out
about 800 of each.
We also had lots of catalogs on display. I had tried to force some SDB's ...
but although they're growing great, they're nowhere near flowering.
FYI... the AIS DOES have a professional backlit display you can reserve for
such auspicious occasions... We have this reserved for the next F & G show
.. an international one... in Niagara Falls on 4/11, 12 & 13.
And we also had our 'hook' of a plant giveaway, from which we will create a
mailing list for our show/sale.
AND... we also had our team of Don and Donna Lowry to give a program on all
types of irises - complete with a plant giveaway!
Kathy Guest - E. Aurora, NY who is VERY tired of saying "so, are you growing
any irises now?"
