I have little more to say, but I did see irises with tremendous vigor at Dr.
Raymond G, Smith's years ago, (about l960), that wanted to rebloom and just
could not. The bud would swell at the base of the stalk, but could not break
through. A couple even "exploded". So I agree that there is or are special
factors at work. Faulty biological clock sounds reasonable, but I prefer to
think of it as a supra biological clock! Lloyd Zurbrigg in Durham NC . For
the East, it is "necessary" that the cut stalk on a rebloomer make a hard
"stump". Otherwise the whole organism gets exposed to infection.
