Welcome Jim and Peg. I agree Nicholson's in Modesto is well worth visiting.
And if you're in Modesto, you should go a little further and see
Superstition (gorgeous place, gorgeous drive). Also if you're in the Central
Valley, my mother-in-law has just opened up an iris farm in Los Banos. It's
not as big as Nicholson's or Superstition, but she does have a really nice
ranch and it's fun to look at her perennial gardens too. My garden in
Atascadero is also supposed to function as a display garden for Forte's
Irises, but I've never done anything like this before and I'm a little scared
(terrified). My children have already taken down two beautiful stalks that
were about to bloom. But if anyone wants any more information, just e-mail
me.
