Re: what is a robin?

Well, I am not sure I can see the distinction between a Iris-L Thread
and an E-mail Robin (Content wise) and AIS issues aside. Threads are
discussions focused on a specific subject, robins *can* be very general
in
the nature of their content and vice versa on both. Be that as it may,
why not just copy Iris-l the e-robin postings? Makes everybody on Iris-l
happy because they get to see all this supposedly higher quality
discussion, and anybody who doesn't what to read it can use the delete
key. It certainly wouldn't interfer with the operation of the e-robin,
might even attract more subscribers to the robin. Who knows, the
resulting Iris-l discussion(s) might even benefit the robin members.

E-robins will not ever be the same as
their snail mail counterparts, don't expect them to be. Even more
importantly don't try to force them to be. It is a new media for robins,
let them evolve to be their best. As someone said you, "can't send seeds
through the email", but you don't have to wait four months to see what
people are saying either. Who knows what else may evolve, maybe even
something more interesting than all those **private discussions** going
on.
