Tom, I always try to get my seeds planted by Nov. 1. This past fall I
was successful in Planting all seeds on Oct. 14th. The seeds were then
watered every day until freeze up and then left outside on the ground
until I put them in the cold frame on Mar. 3. I'd say they were well
chilled here in Mass. :)
Basically, I did the same thing in Tenn and it always worked really well
for me, except the one year I tried to use bottom heat. Down there, I put
the seeds in the cold frame around Feb. 1 and alwasy started getting
germination in about 2- 2 1/2 weeks.
Oh, and once in the cold frame, again water to keep moist at all times
until germination starts.
