Warm greetings to Ryan, at 12 years old you've made a good choice. How nice
to be learning about gardening and the internet at the same time. Using the
two together should make you an expert in no time, where the rest of us
have had to talk over back fences and read books and gain practical experience!
Are you planning to hybridize?
What kinds of programs does your local club have for youth? What would you
WISH they'd provide for you and your gardening friends?
Where do you garden?
Up here in Western New York, on April 20, we're having a program called
"Kulture and Kids, Growing Iris from the ground up" (or something like
that) with youth members of WNYIS and, we hope, some new youth. We're
going to have a talk about general iris care, a schedule of things to do
in the garden, about preparing for an Iris Show. And we're going to have
pizza. AND we're going to give a certificate for a free iris to be picked
up at the Sale in July. I would like to offer a certificate for an iris
rhizome from a major hybridizer to those youth who are members or who
become members on that day.
What sorts of questions would you have at a program of this sort?

To everyone else -->
I received Graham's Catalogue from Croftway Gardens yesterday. It's wonderful.
Some unusual varieties of Geranium (Cranesbill) and other perennials.
Many things offered by the British nurseries are not available across the
deep pond.
Thanks, Graham!! Let us know when you can ship to the USA.
