Iris Pond orders/CIS booth/MDB's


First --> My order from Iris Pond (C E MAHAN'S operation) was FIRST CLASS!! 
And so was that of everyone I know who EVER ordered from him. EVER!!

Second --> I went to Mississauga, Ontario to the Flower Show at the International Centre and visited the Canadian Iris Society's booth and saw Chris Hollinsheadand his sons, Shawn and ? (Shawn walked around with us a bit..)

A wonderful booth! Great photos on the backdrop. Lots of information and
Iris folks to talk to the passersby. And the place was crowded.

Visiting the show brought lots of ideas for WNYIS's booth at the upcoming
Flower Show in Niagara Falls, NY April 11 to 13, '97.

And lots of ideas about tools, composting, organic gardening, books, plants,
furniture. I bought a hedgehog ornament!! I hear they devour slugs and
Cathy Boyko knows where to get the real thing and how to take care of them!

Third --> about a third of the MDB's I put in last year will not make
it/have not made it.  I'm thinking I need a special bed for the first year
or so in a different spot.  I'm thinking that the reason they didn't make
it is not snow, but frost andheaving in this winter with no snow cover most
of the time.

But that's all the gardening I can do right now -- the thinking part.
