Okay, folks -- Sharlyn Rocha has whetted my appetite for talking about
hybridizing. I am partial to amoenas and flowers with heavy velvet
falls. The difficulty is getting heavy velvet falls with good ruffling.
What do I mean by velvet? I mean the kind of texture seen on Wabash,
Congo Song, and Holy Night, to name a few. Then there is the crushed
velvet effect of old Mamauguin. I'll be trying Lady Friend this year
because Clarence tells me it throws velvets, even though it itself is
not a velvet. So, what cultivars can you recommend to me that have both
heavy velvet and good ruffling? And if amoenas, so much the better. All
suggestions gratefully accepted.
