In a message dated 97-03-23 21:24:24 EST, you write:
I am getting quite a bit of off-list mail concerning my response to the
request for data on survival rates of irises. All of it has related to
Siberians -- I appreciate all the helpful advice, but I am not really
interested in growing Siberians here. The climate is clearly not suitable
without special considerations and I don't like them enough to want to
bother. I let everybody on the iris-list talk me into trying them last year
and took all of their advice on how to do it and where to buy them. I was
simply sharing the results of that effort in response to the question posted
about survival rates. Thanks again for the advice. I notice that very few
people outside of the northeastern (east = east of the Mississippi) posted
their experiences of survival rates for Siberians.
And to Clarence, I doubt that my comments will hurt your reputation. You are
obviously much appreciated and respected. For those who haven't been on the
iris list long, there was a running gag last year about Clarence and his
Swiss bank account that started because someone left the decimal out of a
catalog price - instead of $2.00 it was listed for $200. If I buy any more
Siberians, they will have to be already growing in pots, and I will set them
out in Feb, at pea planting time..
