Hi Clair,
I'm sorry to hear that something is eating your irises. Here in our
area we have lots of dear and they do not bother ours. We also have
rabbits and they don't either. I have at times found some of our leaves
to look as though they have been eaten by something. The edges have few
small tears or holes. We have small insects that live in the dirt that
I have found while digging in the soil. We don't have snails or slugs
up in this country, but I know when we lived in San Jose, Calif the
snails would chew the leaves. We have a different kind of slug up at
3,000 feet but not very many or I would see more destruction in the
garden.
If I were you I would get a multi purpose powder for insects that you
have and see if this might work. It's worth a try.
Good luck!
Lora
