I don't think it's quite this simple. It depends on where you start.
pH is a log scale. If it takes X amount of alkali to raise the ph
from 6 to 7 it should take 10 times X to raise the pH from 7 to 8 and
100X to go from 8 to 9. The same is true for acid except going the
other way on the scale -10X more acid to lower each unit.
