When you mention a fungicide and *Terra* in the same sentence, it is
usually a product marketed by UniRoyal Chemical Company, Inc. that goes by
the tradename Terraclor=81.
Its active ingredient is:
Pentachloronitrobenzene (PCNB)
It is used on vegetables and ornamentals that are susceptible to the
various forms of Sclerotium induced ills.
In iris, in hot humid climates, Sclerotium rolfsii is endemic. It causes a
rot that travels under the common names of 'Southern Blight,' 'Mustard Seed
=46ungus,' 'Crown Rot,' and a host of other, local names.
Terraclor=81 is the only effective cure if plants are under severe attack by
this organism. As the point of attack is at the leaf fan/rhizome
intersection, sometime stripping off the affected leaves will provide a
remedy. In advanced cases a drench with a solution of Terraclor=81 is the
only sure cure.
The active ingredient in Terraclor=81 is toxic to aquatic organisms.
