If I dig early for a sale (maybe a week or ten days in advance), I
leave all the foliage attached; then I trim the day or night before the
sale so the plants will look fresh.
Also, several years ago I supplied rhizomes to a leading iris concern
for re-sale, and I was instructed not to trim the foliage because they
wanted the plants to look as fresh as possible.
