Re: CULT: Terrachlor and Rots

Greetings:

Speaking of "southern blight", Rick Tasco noted:

<< Oh, and by the way, in it's advanced stages it can resemble soft rot but
without the smell. So some of you may mistake this for soft rot >>

There is something else going on out there that meets this description, too.
I had a couple of TB rhizomes go soft and moist and dark brown in the
interior with no smell and absolutely no symptoms of southern blight. Foliage
just fine. One was in a pot in a soiless mix and neither died nor failed to
increase. The other, in soil drenched previously with Terraclor, is also
still with us. I have wondered if this is some phase in the natural
disintegration of the older rhizome, but I don't find it referred to
anywhere, and several very senior irisarians have not been able to shed any
light on the situation for me. Any insights?
