Yellow Flag swamp iris

I have a spring-fed ditch in front of my house that always has standing
water, with more springs (or perhaps my own field bed from the septic tank)
feeding into it from several places in the bank.
A week ago I transplanted a Yellow Flag swamp iris into this ditch, and it
looked very healthy for several days, but is now looking a little peaked.
Before I transplant more of them, could someone tell me the needs of this
common wild variety, which I may not be addressing here - particularly as to
pH? Most of the rest of my beds run about 6.8, so I have to put down
Aluminum Sulphate with Louisiana and Japanese. Is this the case with the
Yellow Flag, or is it just undergoing some transplant shock?
