Dear Art,
We have found that the mother rhizomes when planted do much better than
the pups. They grow faster, are much stronger plants, but haven't bloomed
yet. I wonder if the mother rhizomes bloom the first year planted? We
used to compost them by putting them under layers of horse manure,
vegetable matter and other assorted greens. If there is enough heat and
rot near them, they will break down.
