I'll mix Ellen's stew a bit more and ask: why SHOULD membership in AIS be
prerequisite to joining one of the sections? I am a Life member of AIS so I
am not trying to avoid membership, but I don't think anyone's arm should be
twisted into joining an organization that they would otherwise not chose to
join.
