Here I am again

In case anyone missed me...I've been off wading through "Turbotax Land" for
the past 2 wks...had to get my farmers returns out by 3/2, so no time to
play on Iris-L. I did faithfully read all messages daily and print the ones
I wanted to comment on. So, fair warning...as I go through these dated from
2/15, I'll try not to be a blabber mouth. First of all, to Sharon H: We
live about 14 mi north and 6 mi east of Mt Vernon and we'd be happy to have
you visit any time. The swans have begun to nest and should be hatching out
about about time for the TBs. Our phone # is 618-822-6584. Call and we can
tell you how to get here from Mt. Vernon. We live in fairly remote area.
Off the main road, about a mile down a private lane...kind of in the middle
of our land. You can't see us from the road, but it's not really hard to
find us.
We may have met. I assume you attend the Region 9 meeting in Springfield,
being so close. We're always there. Incidentally, we enjoyed your story about
your White ancestry...we read the article in the Jan Bulletin some wks ago.
I certainly agree with him about the oncos. Years ago, when we weren't
aware of any irises but TBs, I ordered an I.susiana from a small
catalog...planted it and forgot about it. The next spring the most
beautiful, huge, spotted
globular bloom I had ever seen...but the folllowing year it was gone.
Probably was a fluke that it ever bloomed here. But I was hooked. We have a
few ABs now that perform well and this year hopefully we'll have more.
Thanks to the great pioneers like Clarence G White and the ones today who
make it possible for us to grow evermore lovely cultivars of every kind of
irises. I want them ALL.

from Ann & Ernie Henson in IL where it was a beautiful sunshiny day today
with temp in the 30's and snow flurries..huge fluffy flakes falling on
yellow daffodil faces while the sun was shining brightly.
