Hi,
I've put over 2 tractor trailer loads of mushroom soil in my raised iris beds
where I grow tall bearded irises. If anything I have less rot than I had
before but I attribute that to the raised beds more than anything else. The
mushroom soil puts back a lot of those trace minerals that you can't get with
regular fertilizer. Evelyn Kegerise used mushroom soil extensively-in fact it
was her recommendation that started me to using it. I treat the beds to about
an eight in layer when ever I replant. It is thoroughly incorporated by
rototilling. It give my clay mixture soil an added boost. I've tried alfalfa
pellets but not extensively-they are considerably more expensive than mushroom
soil.
