RE: cult weather conditions


I wouldn't worry about the iris at this stage.  If it were to go through
another freeze-thaw cycle, I would worry.  Snow is an adequate insulator to
moderate temperature fluctuations.  We've been trying to keep as much snow
on the iris beds, particularly the TBs.  The three freeze-thaw cycles we had
last year didn't hurt any medians (other than Willowware that suffered from
falling stalks).

I am now rejoicing in the blizzard we have now (even though I had to dig out
the car this morning) because the snow will cover the iris that was laid
bare this past weekend.  Especially as it will remain below freezing for the
rest of this week.
