Ryan,
Hopefully, you have already gotten a better answer than I can give.
If you have buds or blooms, you probably should put down the plastic. If
you don't, they will be fine uncovered. Irises are tough plants when it
come to freezes. Even if you lost all your blooms, the plants will live.
