The subject heading of this message is not a mis-print. Florida is
being affected by this big freeze too. If you look at a map of Florida,
everything north of where the Florida Turnpike and I-75 meets is under a
freeze warning for tonight, tomorrow night, and Thursday night.
I don't have any true Irises blooming, but the blue/white Neomarica
started blooming today. So, late today, I threw pine needles over the
Louisianas, and put sheets over some other tender vegetation including one
of the Neomaricas. The other is under a large plastic tub. The place
almost looks like halloween with sheets, upside down buckets and trash cans
all over the place.
We are being told to expect temperatures between 28 F and 32 F (-3 C
and 0 C) tonight. Tomorrow night and Thursday night could see temperatures
between 23 F and 28 F (-5 C and -3 C). It looks like instead of the
Kentucky Freeze Test, I will be having the Florida Freeze Test.
