Our snow is melting after this last storm and things here are looking good.
We have 12 iris beds with others tucked in everywhere. Before the last
storm I started weeding and taking dead leaves off of the iris. Only found
one with partial rot, but the ground was still frozen around it and could
not dig deep enough to remove rot. Applied a healthy sprinkle of Comet to
three of the beds I was able to weed and clean before the storm. All of the
iris have new growth starting to come up and were not far enough along to be
damaged . We can expect snow and freezing temperatures until the first of
June here. Some of the early iris bloom in April/May in spite of the cold.
Information from Billings Montana where is is in 0-20 degrees at night and
this week has been in the 40-50 degrees during the day time. I think
spring may be on the way!! Janet & Shan
