Yes our Schreiners came yesterday, great as usual. One of the intro's was
admired by us a few years ago on our annual Memorial day trip (10 hours by
car) of hard driving straight up I-5. That year, I think "96" was a great
year for seedling viewing. While in Oregon we visit as many gardens as
possible in a total of three days, one day driving up, one day viewing and
one day driving back to WORK to support iris habit. We visit, Shrieners,
Cooleys, Keppels, R. Nelson, C. Thompkins, Meeks, Lori's, and Heirloom
Roses (amazing rose garden). All have wonderful things, Shrieners is
beautifully landscaped.Cooleys has harvesting equipment that we like to
browse thru and a dog that is lovable, Keppels has outstanding blooms, R.
Nelson is a sight to behold, not to many iris but a garden that is
landscaped down into a ravine with all manor of plants and trees all named,
garden statuary and chuckers that run everywhere and hundreds of peonies in
full bloom. C. Thompkins is happy to visit and tell interesting tales of
iris, Meeks is tricky to get into, you have to get thru the sheep pens
first!! Lori's are not tb's but worth the trip just to see the wild birds
and what they have done to attract them. Heirloom roses is acres of display
gardens with a sales room, did'nt buy any prices to high for VERY small
plants but the sight was well worth the drive. Should mention that all
these gardens are within 30-45 minutes apart., , ran out of room Lorraine
