OT - How do they know?

Almost every year, we first hear the beautiful song of the Western
Meadowlark on the day that I. danfordiae first blooms.
This year danfordiae did it's thing on the 16th but we did not hear the
Meadowlark until the 17th.

This connection reminds me of the words of John Muir. An inexact quote
goes something like "You can't pick out anything separately in nature
because everything is hitched together".

It leads me to think that all of the answers to gardening problems are
out there in nature somewhere if we just had the wisdom to know where to
look.
