Canadian sources

Bob Campbell asked "I garden in USDA zone 4 and cannot afford to do a
lot of supplemental watering, what else should I try?"

I am in Zone 4B and have been trying everything within reason with
considerable success. Even some Louisiana flower and Californians grow
but do not flower so far. Almost all the rest, unless they are warm
climate irises, such as tridentata, etc. seems to do reasonably well. I
grow most of my plants from seed, which helps to eliminate individuals
that are too cold sensitive.

and, "If you happen to know of sources for your suggestions in Canada I
would
accept them most gratefully."

I am not sure where you are in Ontario but Chapman's is in Guelph and
has a large selection and I gave a list of species available in Calgary
in a previous reply. Just search the archives under Calgary and you
should find it.

Your soil sounds ideal for spurias which grow very well in zone 4.
