Hello all, my name is Christa Royer, I live in Overland (St. Louis),
Missouri, zone 5. I have been reading the list for sometime now and
thought I had better introduce myself and tell you what a great list
this is. I began growing irises about 10 years ago. My mother had a iris
that was in the first house my parents bought in California, in 1948.
She carried that iris to several other places that we lived in, in Los
Angeles. When they moved to Palm Springs it went along too. And then up
the hill to Yucca Valley. When I closed the place up, I mentioned to the
manager that the iris had been with us a long time. She said well I'll
just include some in things you're having shipped. Well it remained
packed for 2 years before being discovered. By that time I had bought a
home in Missouri, where it has grown and multiplied ever since. I
figured any thing that hard to kill had to be a winner and so not
wanting it to be lonely, I naturally purchased a "few" more. Discovering
there were such things as Reblooming Iris really delighted me, even
though it meant more beds. I am currently looking for more Reblooming
MTB's that will survive our winters. I also grow many other plants
(genus) from seed. I am now a member of the Greater Saint Louis Iris
Society, and volunteer at Missouri Botanical Gardens at the iris bed we
as a club are responsible for. I also belong to the Rittnour Garden Club
and help with the Overland Beautifican Committee.
