HIST: MISS INDIANA!

Anne Henson asked:

<< And no one ever talks about MISS INDIANA and I never see it listed in
catalogs. It's such a crisp little blue & white iris and it performs like a
dream for us.
Does anyone besides us grow it? >>

Yep! Mary Hess of Bluebird Haven Iris Garden for one. MISS INDIANA (Cook,
1961).

But take care of it. These fine older irises from the 'sixties are getting
right hard to find, more's the pity. They aren't old enought to have much
romantic mystique, but are too old to appeal to those who only are interested
in the new stuff. It's a shame, too, because there are some fantastic things
from that period.

Grows well does it? I love a willing iris that is pretty and meets me halfway.
I've got a rhizome of ALCAZAR (Vilmorin, 1910) that I transplanted into virgin
soil last spring that made eight huge increases.
