We grow laevigatas here in Western New England. We have them lined out
in the field but we have irrigation capability as they do require
moisture throughout the summer to really increase. They will grow in a
border but do want rich soil, humus, etc as well as moisture.Generally
their culture is the same as Japanese iris. Cholchesterensis is
definitely the most eye catching with its 6 falls and inky purple color
on white but monstrosa is also nice just not as dark or as much color on
the petal.Hope this is helpful. Debby Wheeler Foxbrook Iris Farm Zone 5
