Of the 'new here this year' varieties:
EARTH SONG, SAMURAI WARRIOR had no visible freeze damage and moderate to
excellent growth
CAROLINA ANGEL, NEW EPIC, COLETTE THURILLET, BUTTERFINGERS, STRAWBERRY
SENSATION/APRICOT GIANT (labels mixed up), CHINA DRAGON, LACY PRIMROSE,
AMBER TAMBOUR, WIDOW'S VEIL all had minor freeze damage (less than 10%
of foliage affected) and have had moderate to excellent growth
MOON LOVE, GOD'S HANDIWORK, SHIRLEY DUVAL, LIFE OF RILEY, VIBRATION had
about 30% damage and moderate to good growth
CAJUN SPICES and CITY LIGHTS had about half the foliage killed but have
already bounced back with vigorous new growth
LADY JULIET, PERFECT GIFT, COMEDIAN, DRESDEN DANCER, BEAU ZAM, AZURE
SEAS, AND CLOUD RIVAL had 2/3 - 3/4 of foliage killed
ARRANGERS CHOICE, MAKIN MUSIC, GODSEND, BATTLE HYMN, and FLORIDA ORANGE
had 90-100% of the foliage killed. ARRANGER'S CHOICE and GODSEND were
growing like mad, some of the most vigorous, but are not showing any
sign of recovery yet.
I didn't post the in betweens. If anybody wants them, let me know.
I'd really be interested in seeing lists of best and worst performance
(especially TBs) from other areas hit hard by the freezes.
Thanks Lloyd for the ongoing reports. The little short irises can't see
over the henbit here, but I guess I ought to get BABY BLESSED - sounds
like one determined little dude.
