Hi, darlin'. Happy Spring!

Well, this lovely plant is not one of the world's great growers for me
although it has unique charms that are unmistakable. I went out and looked at
mine and it is slow off the mark, too, compared to some of the others. It's
puny compared to Copper Lustre, for instance. But then it is a more delicate
iris.

Now, I've been trying hard to keep my fresh and childish naivete about matters
of iris genetics, but one cannot help but wonder if its being a recessive
amoena has anything to do with this. Maybe someone can clarify the role that
might play, if any. Being recessive, it may just be shy. It has also been
known to flop a bit. If it isn't rotten and the fans are rooted I'd just leave
it be. It may not be much this year, but it'll probably settle in.
