Hi, Leslie:
When I
was teaching I always told my students that there are no dumb questions.
Dumb is not knowing something and not asking about it so you will find out what
you want to know. I certainly don't think yours is a dumb
question.
You
won't see any change in your leaves (that already are infected with the leaf
spot) because of your spraying with Daconil. Those leaves are going to
die, and you might better clip them off right away so they don't spread the
disease later. The fungicide should keep the disease from spreading,
should kill the fungi on the leaves and (if you got a good spray on the ground)
those on the soil as well. It is highly unlikely that in that spraying you
got all the bad disease-spreading agents, but you knocked them back. I'd
spray again after bloom is over, maybe again later in the summer, esp. if you
have hot and humid weather. And, as has been repeatedly said here but I'll
say it again anyway, clean up any infected leaves as soon as you see them, so
you prevent further spread as much as possible. In my experience the leaf
spot seldom seems to have affected bloom-- certainly the spraying never
has--save that of the next year if the plants get leaf spot very badly and
aren't taken care of right away.
Best wishes,
Arnold
