Re: AIS: Convention 1999

From: "Perry Dyer" <pdyer@flash.net>

Hi Diana,

I've seen your notes zipping through here. I want to go to Little Rock for
the SLI Convention, but not sure yet if I can make it. I slipped on a mud
puddle in my own driveway on 11/13/98 (check your calendars, folks, that was
FRIDAY the 13th -- never have been superstitious before, but...) and
shattered my right wrist. Was in the hospital on IV's for 3 days, trying to
avoid bone infection. Then had 6 screws drilled into my wrist and lower arm
for 2 months, trying to pull everything back together. Anyhow, I was off
work a BUNCH, and may not be able to take off any more than just for our own
iris and daylily national conventions (we're on tour for both).

For those of you who don't realize it, the Little Rock SLI convention will
be a historic event -- it'll be the FIRST time, in the 50-something-year
history of the society, that the spring annual convention will NOT be held
in the Lafayette, LA area. SLI hopes to start rotating back and forth
between Lafayette and other cities willing/able to host the event. Little
Rock is the first. And they've done a bang-up job preparing for it and
advertising it. So, I hope those of you coming to Oklahoma City for the
national will stick around a couple of days extra, after the convention, and
then head east on I-40 to Little Rock. See page 50 of the last AIS Bulletin
for more info.

Heck, I don't know what zone I'm in (other than the Twilight Zone), 7a, I
think.
