From: Tara M Choate <agilityteam@juno.com>

Hello,

My name is Tara Choate. I live in Molalla, Oregon. I am just getting
started in Irises. They have always been my favorite flowers, but I have
never had a place where I could have any. I finally have a yard, and am
slowly working to create a yard to showcase my favorite flower.

My first project was a raised bed where I transplated some decaying iris
I found in my yard. They came back and were really healthy, but did not
bloom. Does anyone know why this is? One person told me it was because
they were a first-year division and would bloom this year. Another person
told me the rhysomes were not exposed to the light and that was why.But
someone else told me that that wasn't true and that if the really were
too deep they would decay . . . they are really healthy and coming back
again so that can't be. Does anyone know?

I am currently trying to find some good books on Iris, particularily
ones that deal with Iris identification. I am collection from people with
already established beds, but many do not know the names of their plants.
I have some books from the library, but I am always looking for
suggestions. Also, how do you go about joining the American Iris Society?

Thanks.
