Diane Pratt, the artist who painted the portrait of STARSHIP ENTERPRISE
that is featured on the cover of Schreiner's 1999 catalog, lived in Salt
Lake City and brought the original of the painting to the 1998 Region 12
Spring Meeting. I will have to say that it was about the most impressive
depiction of an iris I have ever seen. She was a very talented artist, and
it is indeed sad that she passed away last summer, thereby depriving the
iris world of many more fine representations of our favorite flower that
she might have created.

Where spring has arrived in the form of the first flowers of the season -
Ii. danfordiae and reticulata and 4 varieties of Crocus chrysanthus (all
Irids, naturally)
