You know, I wondered about this when I read it. I would not think of
contradicting Mike on this since he has greater experience of the matter and
gets around more, but I wonder if you polled the under fifty crowd, or maybe
the under sixty crowd, whether this would still hold true. Or whether they
would even be inclined to state a single preference. No one has ever
officially asked me my preferences that I recall. I get asked to select among
predetermined TBs for symposia and so forth, but I haven't been asked what I'm
most interested in at the moment. I say at the moment since I think that many
of us now are less likely to align our preferences rigidly and stick with
them. There are a lot of folks interested in a lot of different irises out
there. Maybe the TB-only crowd is unique in that they don't change, and this
provides a substrate of apparent solidity.
