OT:IRIS FABRIC

From: "Carryl M. Meyer" <carrylm@bigsky.net>

The discussion about the Iris fabric at Wal-Mart--as well as being an
Iirisaholic, I am a Fabriholic--both conditions as long as I can remember
having them--I have many pieces of Iris print fabric--especially one print
in about 8 different colors--but do have a variety of prints and always
finding more--so if anyone wants some Iris print fabric, just contact me
privately and I will tell you what I have and send some if you want--the
cost is what I paid for it plus shipping--
TB vs other Iris-- as I was growing up, my Grandmother had the old purple
flags--all I ever saw was flags--now referred to as TB's--and i think most
people grew up knowing only TB's--I did have a few Siberians--but no idea
what they were--just a nice clump--then joined AIS and guess what?????? I
DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE OTHER IRIS THAN TB'S!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I grow every variety that will survive here, and slowly have changed to
many more Medians than TB's--with the help of AIS and other
members--teaching me that there are other varieties--BUT---I still have the
gut feeling that AIS is a TB society--that is the feeling I get from the
older members--and from the variety which wins the Dykes every year-- I
think that feeling will eventually change, as more members are growing
other then TB's--I welcome the TB Society--why not??? There are societies
for the other varieties ( I belong to all but 1, and will soon be joining
that one) -- I was at the last several Board Meetings when there was
discussion about TB Society and AIS, and some of the quotes I have read
here on Iris-talk are not quite right-- The comments from Ruth and Anner
are true and very well thought out--and should be clear enough for anyone
to understand.
So lets set aside all the " I heard---" "I was told" etc and let the
officers of the two societies figure out a solution which is agreeable with
everyone, and soon bloom season will be upon us and everyone will be too
busy to bicker back and forth, and will be out taking care of and enjoying
their favorite Iris--whichever variety it might be.
