Re: CAT: Misty Hills

From: S&C Rust <srust@fidnet.com>

Ann, I have placed several orders with Misty Hills after Monty passed
away.  They have had a lot of trouble with their growing conditions;
their first year the fields flooded badly and they didn't send my order
until the following year. They are not good with correspondence, but
they are probably still there and will send your order this year. I
can't answer for them, but it seems they completely underestimated how
much work such a commercial garden takes. I don't know why Monty's
partner did not take over the business, which would have seemed more
logical. Perhaps someone out there knows and can tell us? I have
always wondered what happened to Monty's partner. Perhaps he was so
bummed out over Monty's death that he just decided to call it quits. I
almost did myself. I depended completely on Monty's catalog and on his
advise. His death was such a shock to me. I did not know that he was
even sick! I remember that I found out about his death on Easter, and
that he had died somewhere around Christmas. I had delayed sending him
a picture of his intro MISTY TWILIGHT that had rebloomed for me on a
first year clump in October. The stalk was magnificent and so was the
branching, with four perfect flowers out at once. It would have won any
Queen of Show in the spring, let alone the fall. I certainly learned
not to procrastinate with pictures, you just never know.

last Saturday?
