Lots of discussion on plant markers lately. I used to use the PawPaw
markers & plastic raised letter "labelmaker" stick-on strips. Never looked
that good. Finally decided to fork out the money. AAA Engravers in the
AIS bulletin (somewhere in Louisiana) does beautiful labels; with reusable
stakes and postage they run about $2.50 each. Not too bad. Lots of
compliments. Definitely worth the money; only hassle is you'd have to pay
more (pro-rated postage) to only add a few at a time.
Still lots of bloom. Dwarf PLUM WINE is going, Lots of CLOUD BALLET and
LARRY GAULTER are opening, also PICANTE, ...... Clumps of Stingray,
Mesmerizer, Pagan Pink, Jazz Me Blue, In Person, Valentine's Day, Olympiad,
Rock Star, Timescape, Persian Berry, Mabel Andrews, Mulled Wine, Honky Tonk
Blues, Nora Eileen, and Dawning are still going strong.
One new seedling opened, looks nice. Have to wait until next year to see
if the standards stay closed at under 90 degree temperatures. Sort of a
parchment yellow background with nice mid-purple plicata markings and big
spoons. Looks like decent bud count. First one this year that wouldn't
deserve the name "Dumpster Special".
